Not a Threat

I was happily surprised to see the editorial in the Christian Science Monitor (January 4, 2007) supporting peaceful relations with Cuba. What a way to start the New Year! I wish I’d seen it earlier, but its never too late to read a little something positive.

The article by Pat M. Holt, former chief of staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee doesn’t hold back much, pointing out that “the US can learn some things from its Cuban experience,” and asserting that “Cuba has never been a threat to the United States.”

Of course, everyone who has their eyes open already knows this.

Mr. Holt’s editorial ends with the prophetic: “A regime change is under way in Cuba. Maybe we would all be better off in there were a policy change in the US as well.

Way to go Mr. Holt.

Peace.
